If a cargo lot is to be discharged or loaded to a vessel directly to or from an external truck, you must select the select the Is I/B to O/B Move Direct option in the Bill of Lading (on page 1) form.
How the Is I/B to O/B Move Direct option works for cargo
If the Is I/B to O/B Move Direct option is selected at the Bill of Lading (BL) level, the Is I/B to O/B Move Direct option is automatically selected for all the bill of lading items associated to that BL in the Bill of Lading Item (on page 1) form.
If the Is I/B to O/B Move Direct option is cleared at the BL level, the Is I/B to O/B Move Direct option is automatically cleared for all the BL items.
You can also select the Is I/B to O/B Move Direct option only at the BL Item level.
If the BL has multiple BL items and if you have selected the Is I/B to O/B Move Direct option only for a single BL Item, selecting the Is I/B to O/B Move Direct option at the BL level will display the message "Marking the BL as direct handling will automatically mark all BL Items as direct handling" with YES – Continue’ and ‘NO – Cancel options. If you click Yes, all the BL items are marked for direct handling. If you select No, N4 closes the Bill of Lading form without saving the changes.
